Dr. James Moncier

Dr. Jim Moncier is a licensed psychologist (AL & FL). He has worked as a licensed psychologist since 1993. He has practiced in Huntsville since 1996 and at the Huntsville campus of the University of Alabama School of Medicine as an assistant professor in Psychiatry and Family Medicine since 2000.

Dr. Moncier is a past president of the Alabama Psychological Association. He is a Certified Consultant of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and is a member of Division 47 (Exercise and Sport Psychology) of the American Psychological Association. He is also a member of the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry.

His sport psychology practice includes work with athletes, coaches, and teams in junior high, high school, collegiate, and professional sports such as baseball, basketball, competitive cheerleading, football, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, triathlon, volleyball, and wrestling.

In addition to his work with athletes, Dr. Moncier is an active writer. He currently writes the articles for Performance Enhancement News and is a co-author (with Drs. Rob Stainback and Bob Taylor) of the chapter “Sport Psychology: A Clinician’s Perspective” in the recently published (2007) Handbook of Sport Psychology (3rd Edition).
